Immediately After Window Film Installation

Here’s what to expect for your window film post installation:

You May See a Slight Haze: It doesn’t happen often, but, sometimes window film may look slightly hazy right after installation. This is just a little moisture left under the film and not something to be concerned about.  It should disappear after a few days depending on the humidity in your area.

You May See Tiny Bubbles:  Immediately after installation,  a tiny amount of liquid may still be trapped behind the film.  This creates small water bubbles and is quite normal.  The important thing is that you do not pierce any of these water bubbles and leave the film alone until the full 30-day cure.

Allow the Window Film to Cure: After window tinting is applied and the workers leave, remember, your film is not totally cured. You should avoid cleaning the film for at least 30 days.  Also be cautious when opening and closing windows.  Giving your window film this 30-day waiting period gives it time for the adhesives to set.  This helps guarantee the durability of your window tinting.

Throughout the Life of Your Window Film

Follow these tips regarding window film cleaning, care, and maintenance from Dallas Window Film to protect your new investment:

Cleaning Your Window Film: Once your window film is fully cured it can be cleaned with ease.  Simply use an ammonia-free solution, such as Sprayway Glass Cleaner, or gentle dish soap with water. You must be careful to use soft cloths to clean your window film and should probably avoid using paper towels.  This is because most, but not all, paper towels are abrasive on a micro-level.  You may not see the damage from these rough paper towels right away but over time they will dull the finish due to micro-scratches.

Polishing Your Window Film: This step is not needed to clean or extend the life of your film but it does increase the shiny finish.  It should only be done from time to time. On interior films, you using silicone-based polish will gives your film a lustrous, new appearance. This will also retard some scratching or burnishing from occurring. Suggested silicone products are Plexus Plastic and Cleaner Solar Majik.
